The park was founded in 1868 by the will and inspiration of General Vincenzo Ricasoli (1814-1891), it soon became one of the most important gardens of acclamatization in Italy. By 1885 the Botanical Garden in Porto Ercole came to house over 1500 species of rare and exotic plants, coming from all over the world. Vincenzo was also the younger brother of Bettino Ricasoli, known as the Iron Baron, who was President of the Council of the Kingdom of Italy after Camillo Benso di Cavour (Italy’s second Prime Minister).

The Corsini Botanical Garden Monte Argentario APS
In August 2020, Alessandro Corsini, together with his family, founded the nonprofit association Orto Botanico Corsini APS (OBC) in Monte Argentario. The OBC maintains the Park of Acclimatization of the Casa Bianca in Porto Ercole.
The Corsini Botanical Garden carries out activities of social responsability. It uses the more than 16 acres (7 hectares) of the Botanical Garden called the “Acclimatization Park of the Casa Bianca”, located in viale Caravaggio 9, Porto Ercole, Monte Argentario (GR).
The Association will contribute to the preservation, development and enhancement of the Garden, its architectural structures and its botanical heritage, maintaining its flora and fauna. Thanks to its location, the Corsini Botanical Garden has preserved the small town of Porto Ercole from being overly developed.
